Employment History

I have worked in the NHS providing psychotherapy and counselling to individuals, groups and families since 2007. I have proven recovery rates.

Way back in the mists of time (the early 80s) I moved to Glasgow to complete a degree in Psychology and spent several years living in a group home alongside people with learning difficulties. I worked for a couple of years in one of Glasgow’s large housing schemes recruiting, training and supervising volunteers. I then trained as a social worker and moved south to work for the Probation Service. I worked as a Probation Officer for four years, working with adults and young offenders, individually and in groups. After a career break to travel in south east Asia I returned to live in the south west. I then worked for over 12 years with young people in care, supporting their transition into adulthood and independence. I went on to train as a Clinical Psychologist and Therapist working with people across the lifespan in the community, serving personal and inpatient settings. I have worked in an IAPT service, an acute inpatient unit, pain management and clinical health psychology.

Other important bits

As part of my professional registration I am required to work to several codes of conduct and ethical guidelines. I am committed to continuing professional development and regular supervision. I hold comprehensive professional indemnity insurance and am CRB checked. My private work takes place at the Waterloo Wellbeing Centre in Stoke, which provides the perfect space for therapy and counselling
